The Bloggers Hangout | Must Haves Box - Natural hairstyle for mens and womens

The Bloggers Hangout sent over their 'must-haves' box for this month and it was rammed full of beauty and lifestyle products. There was so much in fact a lot had to be sent over separately by some of the brands involved. Due to the sheer amount of product included (45 items to be exact) I knew I wouldn't be able to test all of these and review them here before the end of the month, especially as a lot of the products are skincare products. I prefer to not overload my skin with too much at once (as it can be hard to tell what's working and what's not) so instead I've picked out and starting experimenting with a few products which really stood out to me.

Products were included from a massive variety of brands like Inlight, Dr PawPaw, Ruby Cosmetics, Tins of Nature, Nu Skin, Realine Beauty, Epoch, Greenfrog Botanic, and Neek to name a few.* Of those brands I had only heard of Inlight before, after already using samples of their chocolate and super-food masks which were received in another beauty box (see here and here). The super-food mask is definitely a pricey product but it has such an impressive ingredients list and is packed with natural oils and extracts. I already know it makes my skin feel softer so I'll be using this mask weekly until it runs out.

I swapped out some of my usual skincare items for the Yours Truly Organics products included here which are the Take it Away! Gel Cleanser, Balancing Toner, Fix Me! Repairing Serum and Face Base Face Balm. As you'd expect from the name the products include organic ingredients and have a natural scent. I've only had them a week so I'm only really just getting a feel for how they work for my skin. So far, so good and the gel cleanser leaves my skin so smooth it's my favourite of the bunch.

Dr Paw Paw's balms for dry skin are a firm favourite already. 3 versions of their multi-use balms were included - the Original Balm, Tinted Ultimate Red Balm and Tinted Peach Pink Balm. These are my ideal product for softening chapped, dry lips but you can use them on most areas of dry skin. The balms are made with Papaya (fermented paw paw which is rich in antioxidants) and Aloe Vera. The texture is like a gel but it feels light on the lips. I swapped out my Dr. Lipp balm (see here) for these as they're really similar in terms consistency. The Dr Paw Paw products have much better ingredients however, are over half the price and you get a much bigger tube too. These are definitely something I'd purchase, especially the tinted balms. Confusingly PapayaGold Paw Paw moisturising balm was also included in this box which, from what I can tell, is an entirely different brand but a similar product. It's also made with Papaya but has a thicker consistency and includes manuka honey.

Dr. PawPaw Original Balm, Tinted Peach Balm, Tinted Ultimate Red Balm (£6.95 each)

Nu Skin is another brand which caught my eye though I haven't had the chance to try all of the products included yet apart from the whitening toothpaste. I was stunned to find out how much some of the products retail for, however the company website suggests the brand leads the way in anti-aging skincare. It will be interesting to see how well these work for me in the months to come.

I'm still testing out the other products included, so if there's anything specifically you've seen above and would like me to review in the coming months let me know in the comments!

Have you tried any of these brands?

Hydrangea Bun - Natural hairstyle for mens and womens

Hello friends,

Today I wanted a simple hairstyle, so I made a rope braid and wrapped it up into a low side bun.  After pinning my  bun in place, I added a beautiful hydrangea clip that I got at Claire's in Japan a few weeks ago.  I love hydrangeas!  How amazing to see them in bloom in Kyoto, Japan, an experience I will always remember and would love to repeat.

Gradual Buns - Natural hairstyle for mens and womens

Hi everybody,

Instagram can be a great source for hairstyle ideas!  I saw a friend post a hairstyle made of a series of buns, large to small.  I tried my own version of this look, and really like it.  I started out making a single coil of a cinnamon bun.  Then I moved on to make another bun, and another, and another, until I eventual ran out of hair.
Thank you for coming to see my pictures!  I hope you have a terrific weekend.

Princess-style 4-strand lace braids - Natural hairstyle for mens and womens

Hi everybody,

What a beautiful day, perfect for a princess-style updo.  I made 4-strand lace braids on either side of my head, then put the length of my hair into a big bun.  A friend asked how many clips it takes to hold my hair in place in a bun like this one.  Usually I make my buns with 2 medium size clips in the center, and 3 to 5 small clips.  If I have a stray section of hair, I might add an extra clip or a bobby pin to put it in place.

a fallen tree - Natural hairstyle for mens and womens

The babes are all asleep and the house is quiet. The only sounds I hear are the crickets outside the open window, and the clicking of the keys beneath my fingertips. I imagined starting this post with some bullet points about what I've been up to with my little ones lately, with maybe a couple photos out of my archives added in, but that'll all have to come another day. Tonight I have a couple thoughts instead.

There's a great philosophical question to the effect of; "If a tree falls in the woods with no one around to hear it, does it even make a sound?" It's a question about observation and our knowledge of reality if there is no witness to it. Since my sweethearts passing(six weeks ago today), one of my greatest struggles has been feeling like that fallen tree. Wondering to myself that 'if the most important witness to my life is gone, and I'm on my own as a mother to so many small children, what does any of it matter? and do I even matter?'
I know the right answer to those questions of course, and feel silly even typing them, but with each busy day and quiet night, every time I reach for a hand that's no longer there, and every morning waking from sweet dreams only to have my new reality come rushing back at me all over again, I can't help but feel that way.

I do have five little witnesses, though, and they don't let me forget it for a minute:) In their sweet innocence, they see when I'm exhausted and when I put in effort. They notice when I smile and when I cry, they thank me for cooking, and compliment me when I do my hair. It's not quite the same of course, but I'm adjusting all the time. I have to.

Mothering is my life now, my purpose, and that's enough for me.

They need me, and I need them more. No matter how crippled I may feel by Martin's absence, or when I feel like giving up, they've always there to keep me grounded. They've gotten me through so much already. I'm doing it for them, because even when I may have feelings of meaninglessness, they mean everything to me. They're my whole life now, my little pile of children. They hear when I fall, and they're right there to help me back up, along with all of you dears out there:)

How lucky I am.

P.S. Thank you so much for encouraging me to share what's on my heart, and I hope you're okay with many more late-night thoughts like this moving forward. xoxo

Flower Bouquet Bun - Natural hairstyle for mens and womens

Hi friends,

Today I tried to imitate a hairstyle I've seen on the internet.  I made four braids, then wrapped them up into coiled loops to resemble flowers.  I pinned my hair in place as I went, and can honestly say I would never have made it through a metal detector!  I added small colorful flower clips to highlight what was supposed to be the center of my braid flowers.  I love this flower bouquet bun~ thank you for stopping by to see pictures!  Be sure to follow my Facebook page, maybe soon I will reach 5000 page-likes thanks to all of you.
